Doubly blessed

June 25, 2019 by Lee Wimberly

Some years ago, a family friend was pregnant with twins. I wrote this little poem for her birth announcement. It still touches me today, so I thought I’d share it here. You’re welcome to use it for any purpose. If you do, I’d love to hear about it!

Double the burden for nine months, and then

Double the labor, and double the trials.

But these will seem nothing in later years, when

These two tiny burdens bring laughter and smiles;

With double the courage, and double the love,

Double the strength to withstand any test.

For such is the grace of our Father above:

The doubly burdened are doubly blessed.
